10 second tip: save 66% on meals delivered from Plated.

Do you know about Plated? It’s a weekly delivery service of fresh ingredients and recipes. I haven’t tried it yet, because (until today’s deal) I’ve always felt like it was too pricey: the normal cost for six meals is $72 (yikes).

However, through February 14, RueLaLa is offering a great deal on your first delivery. For just $24, you can get six meals.

I just grabbed this offer. I was especially interested because once you purchase the voucher from RueLaLa, you’ve got until May 16, 2015 to use it.

I’m going to wait until I’ve got a super busy week coming up, when I know I won’t have time to plan meals or shop.

In case you want to snap this up, as well, here are some more details from the RueLaLa site. Enjoy!

I noticed this on rue also but am concerned about having to give one weeks notice to cancel. The voucher is for one weeks worth of meals but you have to give a weeks notice to cancel. I tried one of the box delivery subscriptions from rue before and got charged twice, once from rue and once for the service. Then I got a second box after I had cancelled (charged only once that time) and had to make a trip to the post office to return it. They were good about crediting my charge card after they got the box but it was an all around unpleasant experience. Just call me leery about such offers but this one sure looks appealing. I hope they can make a go of it – be sure to report back when you do try it. The regular price is a little too steep for me so I’d almost hate to try it in case I liked it!

Christine – Maybe the play is to order a box, then immediately cancel? I will report back for sure!

      • You always get a minimum of a week to decide, so there’s no rush to cancel. Just sign up, schedule your delivery for two weeks out (which should be the earliest available), and immediately put the next few weeks after that “on hold”, which is done easily via the website.
Then once you get your delivery, cancel if you wish. Again, there’s no rush, because you already put the next several weeks on hold. It’s also very easy to cancel on the website, but I’d still do the hold technique first to make sure the delivery you do want actually gets processed.

As for you ordering during a busy week, these meals always required extensive 30m-1h preparation, usually chopping and peeling tons of vegetables. Maybe that’s just because I got the vegetarian box though 😛

Alex – Thanks for the info! I will try your method. And I’ll also report back about the chopping and peeling. 😉

  2. Thanks. Got in on the deal and will report back.

  3. Bummer it doesn’t appear you can order a combo of Veg and Omnivore. Might snap it up anyhow. Thanks for the tip.

  4. interested in learning more about this service. I wonder if they ship to HI. Plz let us know if you hear of any other deals!
