A few days ago, I shared a few tips for traveling with curly hair.

I also asked readers to share any tips they had – there were some good ones!

However, I realize that not everyone has curly hair. For those who don’t: this giveaway is for you. Do you know about Drybar? It’s a brand new “blow dry bar” concept created around a very simple idea: No cuts. No color. Just blowouts for only $40.

New York magazine did a little feature on them recently in a piece titled “Boom Brands 2013.”

I’ve got some goodies from Drybar to share.

1. A bottle of Cream Soda, a smoothing cream. This normally retails for $27.

Get your hair to do exactly what you want it to do, dang it!

  • Versatile styling cream that keeps hair in place without looking or feeling stiff.
  • Hydrates, smooths and adds shine and elasticity for healthier looking hair.
  • Great for all hair types.

2. A bottle of The Chaser, a shine pomade. This normally retails for $28.

Adds texture, pieciness and shine.

  • Pomade instantly smooths hair to prevent frizz and flyaways.
  • Protects hair from dryness so ends look fresh and polished.
  • Softens and improves hair quality.
  • Essential for achieving the popular “messy, beachy look” like our Mai Tai.

3. A bottle of 100 Proof, a Treatment Oil. This normally retails for $35.

Provides amazing shine and helps rejuvenate dry and damaged hair. Our hair care treatment is the magic finisher you can use on any blowout, and can be reapplied throughout the day as needed. You’ll want to keep one of these in your purse!

  • Brings dry and dull hair back to life.
  • Creates shine and seals ends to eliminate frizz and flyaways.
  • The ultimate multi-tasker, perfect for mixing or layering (we stylists call this “cocktailing”).
  • Hair treatment oil is virtually weightless, works on all hair types – even fine hair – without weighing it down.

To enter, just leave a comment below. Please share your favorite beauty travel tip, product, or discovery of 2013. Here’s mine: if you’ve got curly, superdry hair, rinse your hair both before and after going in the ocean…or risk having it break off (see photo above for a visual).

Please comment by Tuesday, January 14th at 11:59 pm Pacific. One winner will be selected at random.

Good luck!

  1. i buy these individually wrapped “masks” from asian markets. i put them on my face while in flight. it makes a huge difference in hydrating your skin. i did it on 14 hour flight to asia last week. then on the return flight i forgot to pack it in my carryon and my skin was super dry and red.
another tip. always carry lotion/moisturizer on the plane. my hands and face were uber dry. that’s not normal for me so that says that it’s REALLY dry up there in all that altitude.
i also pack wet (sanitizing) wipes. it’s a germ fest on planes.

  2. My hair is pretty flat and lifeless, so I learned that NOT washing it everyday actually has restored some of it’s “life” and even better – it no longer gets oily! When I travel, I try to keep products to a minimum. The simpler the routine, the better (and the lighter my bag).

  3. My “discovery” — Don’t try and fight the elements–your hair will never win–despite the amount of product that you put in it! For example, if your hair can’t take the humidity, don’t flat iron it and head outside!

  4. I try to always bring Evian spray on the plane to hydrate my face. It’s also great if you are in a super hot location while traveling and want to cool off!

  5. I always travel with my pashmina – to keep me warm on the plane and to use as a scarf to dress up an outfit once I arrive.

  6. I always keep a cosmetic bag packed and ready to go so if I have to leave on the spur of the moment I know I won’t forget anything. I use travel/sample size freebies that I’ve gotten along with an extra blowdryer, hairbrush and magnifying mirror. Unless I’m staying at a really nice hotel I always bring my own blowdryer!

  7. When staying at hotel chains with men-oriented shower products (such Crowne Plaza), make sure to bring your own shampoo and conditioner (unless you don’t mind that your hair smells sort of macho)

  8. My best tip would be to drink plenty of fresh juices – cucumber, carrot, celery are especially good for promoting hair health & growth

  9. I drink lots of water and stay hydrated, take Sudafed as I am prone to sinus infections from flying, and hand sanitizer is my best friend!

  10. I like to bring product samples with me when I travel to save space. I also always carry Bumble and bumble dry shampoo.

  11. Living Proof Style Extender is a great way to avoid washing and blow drying every day. Use it before blow drying and get a wonderful style. Then pull your hair in a topknot with a soft headband before going to sleep. When you wake up your hair will be bouncy and smooth!
