I just got a $600 gift from the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas.

A few months ago, a good friend and I spent a fun weekend in Vegas. Our schedule was packed: we saw the Britney Spears show, met Jim Meehan in the Centurion Lounge, went thrift store shopping, ate delicious food, and just relaxed. We even hung out with my mom.

And we hit a couple of casinos. Our favorite was the Cosmopolitan. We liked the urban, cheeky vibe they had going. At my mom’s suggestion, we signed up for the Identity Club, which is the Cosmopolitan’s loyalty program. Since we aren’t huge gamblers, we only earned a sprinkle of points during our stay, but since that time, I have received several very enticing offers from them.

The offer I got today might be the best one yet. I had to read it a couple of times to make sure that I wasn’t seeing things. Then I called to confirm. It was true: two free nights.

cosmopolitan vegas offer

The offer is good from July 10 – August 6, and the room is a Terrace Studio.

Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 12.20.36 PMI chose a random date in July, then checked the website to see what the best available rate was. $593!

Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 12.21.33 PMI called the Cosmopolitan again to ask if taxes and resort fees were also covered with this offer. Yes! So the two free nights were truly free.

I’m blown away by this offer. I’m bummed because I don’t think I’ll be able to use it, so I hope they continue to send a few more offers my way until I can return in September.

For me, the main takeaway is that it pays to sign up for loyalty clubs! And of course, that my mom is always right. 😉

Do you have any experience with Vegas loyalty clubs? What kinds of offers have you received?

  1. Is that promo transferable? 🙂

  2. I’d throw out another “Daanngggg” but I don’t want to be slapped with the Oakland mark again 😉 The Cosmo is easily our favorite Vegas hotel. It’s clean, fresh and in a great location. I’m jealous about this offer you got!

Dovertime – Hey! Oakland rules! 😉

I can’t believe what a great offer it is. I’m pinching myself. Dannnngggg!

  3. I’ve never signed up for the frequent players club at any of the casinos but this makes me think I should. Have you gotten good offers from any of the other casinos?

    • Points Pixie says:

Danny – I haven’t, because I haven’t signed up either. But my mom has! She gets great offers all the time, including free nights and free excursions (golf, shopping trips…). She gambles a little more than I do, though. However, this Cosmopolitan offer was awesome because I literally have 86 points in my account.

  4. It’s certainly clear, you’re obviously famous and alluring to Sin City, a power player in the blogosphere. The Cosmo recognized you from your blog and photo, someone in marketing threw you an offer usually reserved for high rollers and voila, free advertising on your blog. These are definite perks which I’m sure will be just one of many to come. Well deserved and well done!

Kent C – That would be amazing. Somehow I think that I’m not really that famous. 😉

      I wish!

  5. I stayed at the Cosmo once in 2012. I have received this offer twice so far this year. Too bad I have not been able to use it.

  6. Jake T. says:

I’ve been an Identity Member for a couple years and these come out often in different forms. Usually for the City Room which is definitely not the Terrace Studio…..so it’s great that you joined! Cosmo markets very well.

  7. Geri J. says:

I used to live in Las Vegas. If you don’t sign up for the loyalty programs, you are leaving tons of money on the table. Also, check out the Las Vegas Advisor online (www.lasvegasadvisor.com) and The American Casino Guide (www.americancasinoguide.com). Lots of coupons and lots of good bonusing ideas. In fact, the coupons will more than pay for the book and membership fees.

    • Points Pixie says:

Geri J. – Thanks for the tips! I am heading back in September so I will remember to use them.

  8. Geri J. says:

And, Kent — Not true. Casinos often target new members for big bonuses to try and build brand loyalty. The rule in LV — Sign up for everything!

  9. I’ve been an Identity club member ALMOST since COSMO opened. Have been staying there 1-2 times/year. Not HUGE gambler but DO spend money in the machines. Have NEVER gotten a free night offer…. in fact the offers I’ve received so far are really no better than what I can find online anytime.

    in other words…. “I got a rock”

  10. rebecca says:

wow what a great deal! I haven’t been to vegas in years. I’m not much of a gambler but wouldn’t mind a spa treatment.

  11. Nice score there – always good to see a great offer land in the inbox.

Admittly, I don’t get much in Vegas… but then I don’t hit the slot or tables 😉
