Stacking discounts! 4 ways to save big at Gap.

As we round the bend into full-tilt holiday shopping, I feel that it is important to share some of my favorite tips for stacking discounts at the Gap 😉

The Gap always has a wide selection of give-and-get-ables right around now, and they typically keep the sales coming fast and furiously through the end of the year, so odds are good that you will be able to find some really great pieces at really great prices if you are “armed and ready” with information!

Here’s a quick guide.

1. Get Ready: stock up on Gap gift cards at a discount.

Currently, there is a fantastic deal going on at CVS where you can get $25 in Extrabucks if you buy a $100 Gap gift card. Deals We Like has the total scoop on this.

If you happen to miss the CVS deal, or  you don’t want any Extrabucks, you can buy gift cards at Cardpool for a 10% discount. The tip is to buy Banana Republic cards (which you can use at the Gap), because if you buy Gap cards, you will only get a 6% discount.

Note that Cardpool does not always have Banana Republic gift cards in stock. However, if you sign up for email alerts, they will let you know when they get more.

2. Get Set: get an additional 25% off your purchase

You can sign up to receive emails from Gap and enjoy an additional 25% off your entire purchase. (This is where it comes in handy to have an email account that you use specifically for these kinds of things).

3. Go! Start at Ebates for 7% cash back

Right now, Ebates has the best Gap rebate around: 7% cash back. So, start your Gap shopping odyssey there.

4. Don’t forget to wait for a sale day!

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it is worth mentioning. During this time of year, the Gap will definitely have multiple sales. It is worth waiting for a day when they are offering 30, 40, or even 50% off their merchandise so that you can stack your savings. It really adds up!

I’m planning on getting jammies for my kids (and maybe for myself), plus I’ve got my eye on a pair of boots. We’ll see if the price dips low enough for me to pounce!

Does anyone else have any tips to share? What is on your Gap shopping list?

(Note that I do get a referral credit if you use one of the links above. I really appreciate and thank you for your support!)

  1. So these “physical” Gap gift-cards can be used for online purchases at their website, and so used with cashback via ebates, right?

    1. Uri – Yes, I have had success using Gap cards for purchases made through the Ebates portal. Happy shopping!

  2. Can these gift cards and discounts be used at Piperlime and Old Navy, and whatever other stores they own? Thanks for the great tips!

    1. Toni – The gift cards can be used at Gap, Old Navy, Piperlime, Banana Republic and Athleta. The discounts that you can get vary based on which shopping portal you use (ebates, TopCashBack) and also with the discounts that each store is offering. Hope that helps!
