Banana logic? Why I got a Banana Republic Visa.

So…I got a Banana Republic Visa card.

Banana Republic Visa

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of the brand, but – as with many things – there is more to this card than meets the eye.

Here are the reasons I’m excited about it:

  1. First of all, once you have the card, the rewards come fast and furiously. In the past month, I’ve put $700 of strategic spend on the card and racked up over $100 in rewards. There was a flurry of welcome bonuses ($10 for signing up to receive emails, $5 for going paperless, $35 for my first swipe of the card), which were swiftly followed by a lucrative promo (5x points for purchases made during the month of February at Grocery Stores, Gas Stations, and Restaurants).
    .
  2. Normally, you earn 1 point per dollar spent outside their brands and 5 points per dollar spent within their brands. However, as I just mentioned, it seems that bonus point opportunities frequently rain down like manna from heaven with this card.
    .
  3. Once you reach “Luxe” status (achieved by earning 5000 points in a calendar year), you earn 20% more points based on what you earn every 3 months. (I have to admit that I am slightly confused by this, but currently I’m simply translating it to mean “more points.”) Since I currently have over 3000 points, I’m guessing I’ll hit Luxe status soon.
    .
  4. Rewards are like cash, redeemable for any product from any Gap brand (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta). This is awesome, because there are some nice finds to be had, if you do a little searching. Look what I found at Athleta…

Do you have a Banana Republic Visa? Would you get one?

Also – have you found anything fabulous recently at Gap, BR, or Athleta? Would love to know!!

  1. ooooh a swell bottle at Athleta, I like that!! I haven’t shopped at BR for years, mainly because I moved to a location where they no longer had stores. I used to LOVE their sale racks, could find such great deals. At one point I was Luxe for life but not sure if I still have the status. Another benefit I used regularly was if you’re Luxe, they do free alterations. I leveraged this on a number of occasions back in the day.
