How to get more miles and points for your next car rental.

a bright light in the dark

A couple of days ago, I wrote about how I love using Autoslash to find great deals on car rentals – without spending a lot of time in the process.

I wanted to share another quick and easy way to get even more value out of your next car rental by stacking deals. (If you read my previous post on this topic, you know how much I dislike searching for rental car deals, so you know this has to be a quick and easy tip!)

Here’s what to do:

1. Book your rental.

Find a rental with a price you like. If you are like me, Autoslash is your friend here.

2. Find a bonus deal.

I love using Frequent Flyer Bonuses for this. FFB is a site that lists…well…bonuses. Spend a couple of minutes finding something that meets your needs. Let’s use one of my family’s upcoming rentals as an example. Here’s a rental made with Autoslash under Josh’s name for Dollar.

If I check the Dollar section of FFB, I see this array of choices:

Quadruple miles with American looks great. Clicking through to the Dollar site, here’s the deal:

3. Bring your codes with you.

Since I booked through Autoslash, I might not be able to enter the promo code and my AAdvantage on the Dollar site, but I have had great success with simply providing this information to the agent as I pick up my car. They have always been able to enter the info directly into my reservation at the counter.

4. Enjoy your great rate + extra rewards.

I love stacking bonus codes on top of already great rates. Even better is the fact that I don’t spend a lot of time doing it.

Anyone else have success with this method? How do you find great rates or deals on rental cars?

  1. I wonder if it’s double stackable with Big Crumbs or Mr. Rebates? I found those listed with a 3% return on evrewards……I haven’t ever used either of them. Anyone else have history with those programs?

  2. Rebecca – Sure! ๐Ÿ™‚

Jacki T – What program did you find? Autoslash? Or a car rental agency? If you found Autoslash, then that is huge news!! If you found a car rental agency, then you would actually have to book directly through them to get the 3% rebate.

JustSaying – Thank you, thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Kendra, although this post is a few days old, I’m still benefitting! Getting 4x AAdvantage miles on a Dollar rental – thanks!
