Hotel review: Kimpton Ink48 New York
Recently, I was in NYC for work. Since I’m on a Kimpton high right now, I decided to stay at a couple of Kimpton properties.
While I think all of the Kimptons are fabulous – each in their own way – the Ink48 just might be my favorite.
Why?
A big reason is the view: if you get a room on one of the higher floors, you’re treated to sweeping views of the Hudson river and the city below.
What was the room like?
Because I have Inner Circle status, I was upgraded from a King room to a Hudson River Suite. These suites all have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson.
The suite is huge, especially by NYC standards. However, it’s an open floor plan – no doors separating the bedroom from the living space. There is a sofa, but it’s not a pull-out, and while you can get a rollaway, there isn’t a lot of floor space for one. So this room is best for couples or good friends. It would be tough if you needed privacy.
Somehow, I didn’t get a photo of the bathroom…but it’s huge as well, with a soaking tub, separate shower, and double sink.
Amenities?
Home run here.
I LOVE walking into my room and seeing all the delicious treats they’ve let for me. It’s like getting a care package or something. This time they surprised me with an insanely good cheese plate, a flight of chips, a box of artisanal chocolates, whiskey, beer, and sparkling water. Wow.
What else is great?
The restaurant, Print, is delicious. It’s a farm-to-table, so everything is local and fresh. I ordered a burger from room service (delivered from Print), which was SO good. I also sat down for breakfast one morning – also very tasty.
As with all Kimptons, there is a wine hour that happens every day from 5 pm – 6 pm. While in NYC, it’s rare that I am in my hotel during this time, but I did happen to be there one day, and it was convivial and fun as always. I love how guests end up chatting and sharing info. I’ve met some really interesting people at Kimpton wine hours!
The staff at the Ink48 is also one of my favorites. They have gone out of their way for me several times, and have always made me feel so welcomed – even when I arrive at 2 am.
I highly recommend the Ink48
The Ink48 really is a great spot. While it’s a little off the beaten path in Hell’s Kitchen, it’s still within walking distance of anything you need, and the views and amenities are amazing.
Have you stayed at the Ink48? What did you think?
What credit card do you recommend for use at Kimpton Hotels?
Margitaram – I wish Kimpton had a co-branded credit card!! I normally use either my Chase Sapphire card (2x points) or my Barclaycard Arrival.
what does it cost a night? it sounds marvelous!
Nance – I’ve seen it as low as $180 (and maybe lower)! If you can book during a double stay credit sale it’s an even better deal!
