The Disney World monorail bar crawl? Yes.
So, I’m continuing on with my Disney World planning (you know that planning trips is how I relieve stress!), and I came across a ton of info about something called the Disney World monorail bar crawl.
Needless to say, my interest was piqued.
Did you already know about this? I had no idea it was a thing, but apparently people do it all the time.
The Resort Monorail at Disney World begins at the Magic Kingdom park and runs in a loop, making the following stops:
- The Contemporary Resort
- The Polynesian Village Resort
- The Grand Floridian Beach Resort
At each of these stops, you can get off the monorail and visit one of the iconic lounge bars. Each lounge has its own specialty cocktails.
Glow-tini at the Outer Rim
The first stop is the Outer Rim, which is on the fourth floor concourse of the Contemporary Resort. Get the Glow-tini.
Tip: you can keep the glowing ice cube as a souvenir.
For more fun later:
- Find the button on the cube.
- Press the button once to make the cube light up.
- Press the button twice to make the cube display several different colors.
- If you continue to press the button, you will see different light patterns.
Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge
This drink is made with a blend of Myers’s Original Dark rum and tropical fruit juices, topped with Bacardi 151 rum, and served in a fresh-cut pineapple, complete with cocktail umbrella. OMG.
Tip: head out to the beach at the Polynesian Resort and catch the fireworks! You’ll have a perfect view from here.
Manhattan at Mizner’s Lounge
This lounge is classic and classy, so it’s perfect for ordering a martini or a Manhattan.
Tip: come before 10 pm to hear the Grand Flordian jazz band.
Have you been on the Monorail crawl?
Have you done this? Would you recommend it? Any other tips? I’d love to hear!
.
Yes! I did this all the time in college (UCF). I still do it when I go home. In addition to the Outer Rim at Contemporary I would highly recommend going to the California Grill for drinks. If you time it properly you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the roof of the Contemporary with your drinks. It’s a business casual dress code and they do not take reservations for the bar. Their is ample space (sometimes you will have to push the agent to get it, but has never been “too” crowded when I was there). Also, if you are staying off property I would recommend parking at the Contemporary.
A – Thanks for the tip about the California Grill. It looks and sounds REALLY nice.
If you can, try to get up to the California Grill in the Contemporary if you can instead of the Outer Rim. Much nicer bar with incredible food and an amazing view. That said, you can’t always get up there.
The Lounge at the top of Bay Lake Tower (connected to the Contemporary) is nice too, but you need to be with a Disney Vacation Club member to get up there.
Mark D. – I’m going to try to get to the California Grill! Definitely on my list!
There’s also drinking around the world in Epcot, which sounds significantly more dangerous — 11 countries, so that means 11 drinks. Better split with a friend. 😉
Leslie – Egads, that sounds crazy!
Sounds fun! I love Disney, have not been in forever. Look forward to following your trip planning!!
Rebecca – Yes, let the planning begin!!
