The Elusive Amazon…or, How to Get Points for Your Amazon Purchase
I love Amazon. I try to “shop local” first, but if I need something that I can’t find in my neighborhood, Amazon gets an online visit from me! However, it can be tricky to figure out how to get points for your Amazon purchases. Here are a couple of ways I’ve discovered:
- Go through the Hawaiian Airlines shopping portal and earn 1 Hawaiian Airlines Point/dollar. This may not seem like much, but a point is a point!
- If you’ve got an Ink Bold card from Chase, you earn 5X points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent annually at office supply stores (such as Office Depot and Staples). This means that you can purchase Amazon gift cards at an office supply store using your Ink Bold card and get 5x points! (Go through the Hawaiian Airlines portal afterwards for a double dip)!
What about you? Have you found other ways to get points from your Amazon spending?
Kendra,
I am new to your blog and I really like it. Very clear and concise. I appreciate your willingness to research the dark underbelly of the obscure threads with the ominous code words to bring us a “common touch” interpretation of the art of points and miles.
I am a little curious, however, that I couldn’t find any write ups about Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaiian Miles.
Realizing that this airline doesn’t work for everyone, the transferable nature of the miles to HHonors points at a 1:2 ratio and the ease of obtaining 72000 miles through applying for the BofA and BofH credit cards which could then become 144,000 HHonors points seems like an exciting opportunity for all!!
Thanks again for your great reporting!!

@Brant, thank you! Love the feedback as well. I’m not super familiar with Hawaiian but since I’m about to apply for the BofA card(s), I hope to learn some good info which I will definitely post. Thanks again for the props!
