There’s a new Hyatt all-inclusive coming…and I can hardly wait!
My family spent a few nights in Puerto Vallarta last November, at an all-inclusive resort called Dreams. It was hands-down the easiest vacation we had all year…which also made it the best, in certain ways. It was certainly relaxing, and that is not always the case when you’re traveling with kids.
This particular resort was small enough that we never needed a map to get from one place to another, and we felt comfortable having our kids walk around by themselves if they needed to. However, the resort felt very complete and satisfying; it had a variety of different restaurants, pools, and activities – plus it was right on the ocean – which meant we never felt hemmed in or bored.
We liked it so much that we were actually planning to return this year – but as soon as we started to plan our vacation, Dreams announced that it was closing its doors. We were super disappointed…until we learned that the property was going to be rebranded and remodeled as a Hyatt!
The new name of the property is the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, and it’s also an all-inclusive. For the past several months, I’ve been obsessively checking the site every day to see when it would fling open its virtual doors. Much to my delight, this happy moment arrived last week. The resort opens in December 2014, and they are now accepting reservations for January 5, 2015 and beyond.
The best part is that they’re now having a Grand Opening sale!
The rate shown above is for double occupancy. The number of people who will be staying in the room is a VERY important factor when you are booking an all-inclusive, as everything (meals, drinks, activities…) is, well – included – in the price. In other words, if we booked a room for the four of us (even though we were in the SAME room), the cost would increase.
So, I quickly booked a stay, but not before I did a lot of research on the best way to maximize value for a family of four. I learned a bunch of great tips and info in the process. I’ll write more about it in my very next post, so stay tuned!
Are you excited about this new property? What do you think about Hyatt’s venture into the all-inclusive market?
We would love to try an AI but with a family of five it never seems doable! Have you visited anyplace that allows 5?
Thanks.
Michelle – I have some ideas for you…stay tuned for my next post.
So, if I’m traveling with a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids, do I have to reserve a one room and list all 4 people?
Koosy – Turns out there are a lot of ways to skin this cat! I’m in the middle of writing an entire post about all of the various options…stay tuned!
Just booked it for the 4th of July weekend (It shouldn’t be too hot, right?). Thanks for the head up!
