Uber bonanza! New users get up to a $65 credit for car service, existing users get $15.
I love Uber. While their rides are a little pricey, the experience is impeccable: super clean (and often very luxurious) vehicles; prompt, door-to-door service; friendly and knowledgeable drivers…what’s not to love?
I’m always scheming about how I can justify using their premium service on rides to and from the airport, but I have to admit it is not always worth the extra cost.
New Uber promo to the rescue
While Uber frequently runs promotions for new users, right now they’ve got something for everyone. If you are an existing Uber user, you can enjoy $15 off when you pay for a ride with Paypal. If you are a new Uber user, hold on to your hat, because you can get up to $65 off your first ride!
Woo hoo!
New user? Here’s how to do it
1. Sign up for Uber. You can use my link for $10 off your first ride (I will also get $10 – thank you!). This code does not expire. (Note that some readers have reported finding referral bonuses of $20, but not sure if these increased bonuses stack with the promo codes – please let me know if you have any info on this!)
2. After signing up for your new account, apply the promo code KALEB for another $20 credit good through 08/08/15. (While I have confirmed that this code currently works, please let me know in the comments if it stops working). Note that this code is only valid in the US.
3. Apply promo code INSURANCEJOURNAL for $20 more through 12/31/13. (Thanks to Delta Points for this tip!)
4. Stack another $15 credit on top of the first two by paying with Paypal, no code required. This offer expires on 11/28/13.
5. Enjoy your $65 credit.
What’s going on?
Uber has just announced that they are now accepting Paypal as a payment method in the US, Germany, Italy, France, and the Netherlands. As if this news weren’t exciting enough, Uber is offering $15 off your next ride when you pay with Paypal. This offer is valid through 11/28/13 (so hurry up and ride!) and excludes UberTAXI.
Existing user? Here’s how we roll.
- Update your Uber app to the latest version
- Select “Payment” from the menu in your Uber app
- Tap “Add Payment”
- Tap “PayPal” to add your PayPal account
- Select PayPal as your payment method and take a ride. The $15 discount will apply automatically.
- Remember that this discount expires on 11/28/13
Hop in!
If you haven’t already tried Uber, now is a great time to give it a test drive. If your experience is anything like mine, you will definitely be hooked.
I love that this is just in time for holiday travel, or possibly a ride home from a holiday party.
Have you tried Uber yet? Are you planning to?
Don’t forget after your readers set up an account, add all those, to also add “INSURANCEJOURNAL” for $20 more before year end. It is even OK for existing users 😉
DeltaPoints – Awesome! Adding to my post right now 🙂
Existing user. Added PayPal fine but got message that insurancejournal code is only good for new sign-ups. Oh well.
MikeMilzz – Aw man! Trying it myself right now, will report back.
Fyi, the KALEB promo code is only valid in US
“Kaleb hooked you up with a free UberBLACK or uberX ride up to $20 for new Uber users (Valid in US only)”
Sven – thanks for the clarification! Will add that info to the post.
to Deltapoints: that is not correct regarding existing users:
“Promotion only available to new users”
Sven – Yup, you are right.
When I tried insurancejournal it said new users only.
mwwalk – I know…I got all excited as well. Too bad. At least we can enjoy the $15.
If I don’t have iPhone/Android, can I still use this service?
Angela – I *think* so. From what I’ve read, if you don’t have access to the Uber app, you can request a car through the Uber mobile site or by texting your pickup address and city to UBR222. You can email or tweet them for a definite answer. Hope you can do it!
Sorry that was no the case a few weeks back. Ratz!
How do you apply promo code KALEB? Is this a code that I have to apply when I actually make an Uber reservation? Or is there a way to apply this code so that I have a $20 credit in my account? And I used your link to get myself and you a $10 credit.
Logistical question…how exactly is one to apply more than one promo code?
Geewhiz – I think these codes are stackable. In other words, you would just enter one, then enter the next one. Since I am an existing user, I have to go on anecdotal evidence, so if you find differently, please let me know and I will edit the post accordingly!
Thanks! For some reason I couldn’t get the Insurance promo code working but others were all fine.
Jess – Thanks for the update! Good to have this info. Has anyone else had this experience?
KALEB code doesn’t work after signing up
G – Hmm, seems to be working for some and not for others.
Somehow I got a referral link offering $20 to new users, if anyone wants it. 🙂

I have no clue why, but when I was using my own invite link to create an Uber account for my mom, she received $20 credit for her account. https://uber.com/invite/56bko
Jianna – That is awesome! Could she still stack the other codes on top of the $20 bonus?
With the PayPal link, does the $15 credit apply when you complete a ride or should it show right away? It did not show on my account.
Sara – According to Uber, the $15 credit will be applied after your ride (when you select PayPal as your payment option).
Thanks. I signed my husband up today (so clearly a new user) and the insurancejournal code would not work.
i emailed uber they said you can’t stack coupons so I told them to terminate my membership. this is bull crap
