Maximize yesterday’s Amazon/Amex sync promo with today’s great deals

In case you haven’t already heard, American Express and Amazon busted out with a great promo yesterday: you can register all of your AmEx cards to earn a $25 statement credit (per card!) when you spend $75 or more at Amazon.com by December 31, 2013.

For me, this promo comes just in time to finish up my holiday shopping. I’m planning on buying $75 Amazon gift cards (for an effective price of $50 each), then using them as needed. You can select email delivery and you’ll have the gift card number within minutes. Or you can order a physical gift card with free next day shipping. Since the gift cards don’t expire, this is just free money!

If you are in a shopping mood, I did find several great deals that stack nicely with this promo:

1. Pay $24 (including shipping) for Select SodaStream Home Soda Makers, plus receive a $15 rebate

Through December 3, 2013, order an eligible SodaStream Home Soda Maker and receive a $25 promotional credit.

The Sodastream Jet Starter Kit is on sale for $79. With these stacking promos, you can get $25 back with AMEX AND get the $25 Amazon.com promo credit, which will bring the cost down to $24.

Plus you can get a $15 rebate so that your first CO2 exchange will be free as well!

The promo credit expires 12/31/14 and is valid on items shipped and sold directly from Amazon.

2. Save an additional 20% at MyHabit

MyHabit is Amazon’s answer to Gilt and Bluefly. They describe it as “a private fashion sale site offering up to 60% off hand-picked selections from designer and boutique brands.” I describe it as addictive.

If you use the code SHOPPING at checkout, you will get an extra 20% off today, December 2, 2013.

Drooling over this Balenciaga bag! Too bad I don’t have 50 Amex cards or it would be free 🙂

3. Select shoes and handbags are 30% off orders of $100 or more

To receive the 30% promotional discount, spend $100 on qualifying items sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

  1. Add products described in the promotion to your Shopping Cart via the “Add to cart” button on the product information pages.
  2. Enter promo code: CMSHOE30 on the Checkout page.
  3. The amount of the savings will be reflected on the final order checkout page and will be allocated proportionally to all participating items in the Shopping Cart.
  4. Promotional offer valid through 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) December 7, 2013 or when all codes are claimed, whichever is earlier.

Hope you can snap up some great finds! Let us know in the comments section if you find any other deals to share!

  1. Dave – if you purchase Amazon gift cards, you need to use them at Amazon. I don’t know of any other things you can do…if anyone else does, please chime in!

Also – I have tried to split my purchase into chunks so I could use multiple cards, but to no avail. I can’t figure that one out either. I’ll do some research and if I figure out a way, I will write a post on it!

  2. I got an email from Amex letting me know my Platinum card had this offer available but I didn’t realize it was available for all my Amex cards. Went on today and the deal is no longer available because they reached their max. 🙁

  3. I registered 17 Amex cards between me and my husband for the Amazon promo. So far I bought a bunch of amazon gift cards and whole foods gift cards. I find it easiest to just have the gift cards in my amazon account to use whenever. You can buy practically everything at amazon. I have a friend who told me she has a few items on auto ship thru amazon (I think she said detergent, toilet paper, etc) so I told her to check to see if she can apply her amazon gift card balance to the shipments. I usually buy vitamins from vitacost or Swanson but sometimes the prices thru amazon’s website are even better than going directly to the websites of vitacost or swanson…..and they all sell so many items other than vitamins (such as food items, oatmeal, pasta, spices, beans, coconut water, almond milk, nut butters, honey, etc and personal products such as lotions, natural deodorants, toothpaste, and so much more at great prices.

  4. By registering the amex – do you mean registering it as a form of pymt on amazon.com? I wonder if corp cards are exempt? When I clicked the link above “register all of your amex cards” it says the offer is no longer valid.
